Getting Started

We are happy to welcome new patients to our dental practice. New patients are encouraged to contact us directly to schedule or to book online.

The first visit consists of a comprehensive oral exam and x-rays. A oral prophylaxis (cleaning) may also be completed and is considered a preventive procedure for patients with generally healthy gums. Cleanings should be able to be properly completed within the duration of the new patient appointment.

Patients with heavier bleeding and plaque build-up will require a therapeutic procedure such as Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing (if there is bone loss) or a Scaling procedure (heavy bleeding/inflammation). These more intensive procedures will almost always need to be completed at a subsequent dental visit.

All recommended treatment will be provided to you in a detailed written treatment plan. If you are healthy, you will simply be appointed for your three-six month check-up and encouraged to continue oral hygiene at home. If you have additional dental work to do, we will schedule you for as soon as possible or within two weeks.

  • We ask that new patients complete the new patient forms within 24 hours of receipt. Insurance will cover a full mouth or panoramic x-ray every 1-5 years (depending on your plan benefits). To avoid a copay, email any recent x-rays to drkee@smilenstyledental.com. If you do not have any current x-rays, we will take our own at your appointment.

**We strongly encourage you to send your own x-rays if you have any recent x-rays. This will allow you to know for sure that your x-rays were sent. Simply ask the office to email the x-rays directly to your personal email.

  • Existing patients are required to complete Update Forms every 12 months. This information is used to obtain any changes in your medical information. If you have changes that need to be communicated sooner, please contact our office.

Forms

Our office uses Smart Forms to make your paperwork process quick and easy to fill out. Following scheduling you will receive a link by text or email (your preference), to the forms. Simply complete and submit. No printing or emailing.

Please be prepared to provided contact information, medical history and to review office disclosures. On the day of your appointment, you will only be asked to provide a form of ID to ensure no one is using your insurance but you.

 FAQs

  • Yes, we are accepting new patients. To confirm our acceptance with your insurance, please call (301)696-1016.

  • We treat all ages of patients including children and adults. The entire family is welcome.

  • No, we are unable to guarantee same day care to new patients without an exam first. For example: A new patient comes in with pain and “thinks” they may need a filling. This tooth may need a filling, or a extraction or a root canal. It would be impossible to estimate how much time the dentist will need without examination. Also, the patient may not be prepared for the copay for treatment and therefore, not ready to proceed. If we reserve the time without knowing if the patient will do the procedure we inhibit other patients from booking which negatively affects our practice and our patients. We will make every effort to return you possibly same day at a later appointment time or another day within two weeks.

  • The first visit consists of a comprehensive oral exam and x-rays. A oral prophylaxis (cleaning) may also be completed. A oral prophylaxis is considered a preventive procedure for patients with generally healthy gums and should be able to be completed within the duration of the new patient appointment.

Patients with heavier bleeding and plaque build-up will require a longer therapeutic procedure such as Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing (if there is bone loss) or a Scaling procedure (heavy bleeding/inflammation). Therapeutic procedures are indicated for the treatment/”healing” of disease. A preventive procedure like a oral prophylaxis will not be suitable for symptomatic patients. Because the first appointment is booked before we know your dental needs, we cannot predict the appropriate amount of chair time you may need for non-preventive procedures. For this reason, therapeutic procedures will almost always need to be completed at a subsequent dental visit.

  • We offer white fillings, crown/bridge, implants, veneers, extractions, and dentures. Additionally, we treat TMJ and sleep apnea. We refer root canal procedures to ensure our patient’s have the best care possible.

  • We recommend our membership plan to uninsured patients. The plan covers the new patient appointment, plus two additional exams, two additional cleanings, and 25% off dental procedures. The membership plan can be paid for in one payment of $389 or in payments with Sunbit. Out of pocket (& without the membership) the first visit - exam & pano x-ray will cost $260.

If you have insurance, prices are set by your insurance plan. Preventive procedures like exams and x-rays are usually covered at 100%.
