Our Approach

We are a full service dental office offering procedures ranging from a hygiene to full mouth rehabilitation. We provide an individualized approach to dentistry not a “one size fits all” philosophy. Dr. Kee has over 30 years of experience providing therapeutic and naturopathic dental care. She completed a highly competitive general dentistry residency at the former D.C. General Hospital and has cared for patients in Frederick since 1996.

Common Questions:

What is your office availability?

Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 9:00AM-5:00PM

Tuesdays: 9:00AM-2:00PM

** Please note: Walk-ins are not allowed at this time.

  • Existing Patient Hygiene: 4-6 weeks. Most patients schedule at their 6-month check-up to ensure preferred dates/times and to remain on schedule.

  • Existing Patient Pain: 24-48 hours. We prioritize dental emergencies and generally have at least 1 spot per day available for existing patients. We consider an emergency to mean you can come at any reasonable time available as it is an “emergency”.

  • Treatments: Patients with treatment plans can schedule for fillings, crowns, dentures, extractions, and implants within 2-3 weeks of the initial visit, if not sooner.

  • New Patients: Prospective patients are usually seen within 4-6 weeks for well visits. There are a certain number of new patient spots available per month to ensure we can still focus on our established patients. For this reason, we recommend calling at the beginning of a month for greater freedom of choice.

How much will the first visit cost?

With Insurance - $0-$100. Some plans have copays or deductibles which you can check with your plan if you are not sure.

Membership - $389. Includes preventive care for the entire year. Benefits include 2 exams, 2 cleanings, 1 emergency visit, x-rays and 25% off treatment.

No Insurance - $250 for examination, consultation, and panoramic x-ray. $350 for examination, consultation, panoramic x-ray, and cleaning.

What are some of the reasons why a cleaning may not be performed on a new patient on the first visit?

  • Oral Health Condition: A basic cleaning is not enough for some adult patients. New patients who are overdue and/or have dental conditions will have those ailments prioritized. Other cleanings such as an oral debridement may be completed. If deep cleaning is needed it will be completed at the next visit as this procedure requires at least 60 minutes exclusive of the appointment.

  • Insurance Limitations: Some plans require prior authorization before procedures. Example: Deep Cleaning.

  • Costs: Same day procedures other than a basic cleaning usually come with patient costs. Over the phone we cannot determine the state of your mouth and therefore cannot prepare you for costs on the first visit.

  • Appointment Time: Usually the new patient visit uses all of the time on consultation, examination, medical history, and x-rays. To receive a cleaning same day could compromise the quality of the appointment because the patient would have to rush through other portions of the appointment.

  • Missed Appointments: new patients miss more appointments than other patients because they have not yet established a patient-provider relationship. Because we cannot charge a new patient a missed appointment fee, we cannot set aside excess time on the hygiene schedule outside of the normal limits for a new patient appointment.

For this reason, if the only purpose of your visit is a cleaning, a full service dental office may not be suitable for your needs. You may want to explore a Dental Hygiene clinic which is an office that does not employ any doctors and only performs cleanings.
